Changing the font color for the chart labels

Kevin Herrholtz -

Users can change the font color for the charts through TurningPoint, or through PowerPoint.

To change the font color for the chart labels through TurningPoint do the following:

  1. Open TurningPoint.
  2. Open PowerPoint Polling.
  3. Open the presentation being used.
  4. Click the Preferences button.
  5. Change the Chart Colors setting to “Defined”
  6. Change the Defined Label Color to the desired color.
This also changes the chart bars to the “Defined” colors. If the PowerPoint color scheme is desired for the chart bar colors, the chart label font needs to be set in the PowerPoint color scheme.

To change the font color for the chart labels through PowerPoint do the following:

Make sure the Chart Colors setting (mentioned above) in the Preferences is set to PowerPoint Scheme and follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Design Tab in PowerPoint.
In Office 2013 click the menu drop down in the Variants section.
  2. Choose Customize Colors.

Note: In Office 2010 click the Design tab-->Colors-->Create New Theme Colors
  3. Click the color next to Text/Background – Dark 1.
  4. Click More Colors
  5. Click the Standard tab (if necessary).
Avoid choosing the large white or middle white hexagons as this will create white background boxes in the data labels (i.e. white text with a white background). Instead choose the smaller white hexagon to the right of the larger one as shown below, or choose any other color on the pallet.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Save.

This may also change the background color of the slides depending on how the background color was set up in PowerPoint.

If the background color changes as well right click the background of any slide, choose Format Background, choose the desired Fill and color, and click Apply to All.
