This topic covers basic troubleshooting steps for Bluetooth devices.
The most common issues are:
Unplug the receiver and plug it back in. If it is still unrecognized, plug the receiver into a different USB port.
Verify that the receiver is plugged into a working USB port. If so, does your PC have the latest Bluetooth drivers installed? For all Windows operating systems (OS) XP SP 2 and later, the file 'bth.inf' should be installed. The 'bth.inf' file drives the Bluetooth adapter.
- The first step is to ensure that all hidden files are made visible:
- For XP and Vista users, follow the path: C: > Tools > Folder Options > View > Enable Show Hidden file/folder/drives > Apply > OK.
- For Win 7 and 8 users, follow the path: C: > Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > Show hidden files and folders > Apply > OK.
- Click the Start menu and right-click Computer.
- Click Manage.
- Expand System Tools and select eInstruction Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth Radios.
- Right-click on TDK Bluetooth Adapter (the adapter may also be named Generic Bluetooth Device) and select Update Driver Software.
- Select Browse my computer for driver software.
- Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer and click Next.
- Click Have Disk.
- Click Browse.
The file is typically located in one of two locations:
- Select the file and click Open.
- Click OK.
A confirmation appears stating that the drivers have been successfully installed. Verify in Windows Device Manager that the TDK Bluetooth Adapter is now the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator.
- Close both Windows Device Manager and eInstruction Device Manager.
- Click the icon in the notification area and select Restart. When the icon reappears, (at least 30-60 seconds), select eInstruction Device Manager.
The Add Bluetooth Device icon is now green
